This weekend was pretty tame at the cine-plexes, as a horror movie takes the #1 spot, dethroning another "scary" movie, but only with half it's previous week's take. "Silent Hill" opens up with around 20 million in the bank, which is not a great success, but it seems like a movie that will stick around for a month or so.
"Scary Movie 4" keeps fooling people into buying more tickets than the recently released "The Sentinel", which I want to actually see more than I did on Friday. Seems they go into the Secret Service procedures quite a lot, which is fascinating to me. No joke, it's just interesting.
The middle of the pack seems to be dominated by infantile movies. CGI and stuff starring Rob Schneider . . yeesh. The Antonio Banderas movie seems to be exiting stage left and the American Idol/Political satire "American Dreamz" peeks its head long enough to get to the 8th position in its opening weekend. "Pathetic" - *Simon Cowell impression.*
The bottom of the pack ends up with the Clive Owen/Denzel Washington-Spike Lee Joint . . .wow . . that was unwieldy, and an indie starring Jennifer Aniston. Something about her friends having money . . . much like her friends on Friends, who are all filthy fucking rich. Anyway, here's the list with the chedda that got them where they are.
1. Silent Hill - $20,200,000
2. Scary Movie 4 - $17,034,000
3. The Sentinel - $14,650,000
