Machete Trailer

I have to say, I enjoyed the 5 de Mayo version of this movie's trailer better than this mainstream one, but that's not to say that the trailer doesn't make the movie look like a couple of hours worth of kick-ass. Not to mention a terrific ensemble cast that's lead by the criminally marginally used Danny Trejo. Finally, a starring role for the man that used to wash my father-in-law's laundry in the pen (true story). Check out the video and make an appointment to cut into "Machete" when it hits theaters later this year.

Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to Jail

Yes, that's Lindsay Lohan, displaying emotions that she somehow doesn't know how to express while acting, but I guess they're warranted, since the California Judicial System just sentenced her to 90 days in jail. And here I was losing hope in our judicial system, after my recent stint in jury duty. Man would I have loved to serve on that jury. But, alas, the Lohan drug fueled menace is off the streets and headed for lock-up. And why did the judge sentence her? Aside from common sense, take a look at her probation report courtesy of Radar Online:

Lindsay Lohan was taking a powerful cocktail of amphetamines and the powerful painkiller Dilaudid during her probation period, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.
The shocking list is contained in the 24-year-old’s probation report, which was given to a Beverly Hills court Tuesday. It is expected to be released publicly Wednesday.
Lohan, 24, who was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation, was also taking Adderall – an amphetamine used as part of a treatment program to control symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The actress was also taking a combination of other drugs, including anti-depressants Zoloft and Trazodone. She also takes Nexium, which is used to treat acid reflux.
They were all legally prescribed to Lohan, RadarOnline.com has been told. The drugs were detected in the Mean Girls star’s system after she began random drug testing on May 26.
The combination had the potential to “kill her” when mixed with alcohol, said one source.

And that's just prescriptions, who knows what else she was doing before she got on probation. While I don't feel sorry for Lohan, I do hope she takes this time to reevaluate her life. She's got 90 days to realize she's hit rock-bottom.

Let Me In Trailer

"Let Me In" is the American remake of the superb Swedish vampire movie "Let the Right One In", which in itself was adapted from a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist (you should take a few days to check that out as well). Now that you know all of that, let's just say that it looks pretty true to the original, but in ways, different than the original. Mostly due to the casting and a spoiler I won't reveal from the original. But the casting will have a huge impact on that, so until I get to see the movie, I'll keep it pretty hush hush. Unless you've seen the original yourself, you'll know what I'm talking about. Check out the trailer. The movie is directed by the guy that brought us "Cloverfield" and stars the Hit-Girl from "Kick-Ass".

Rock Band au Natural

I have no problem with women playing videogames in the nude. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing my wife playing "Fairytale Fights" totally naked. That would be thoroughly entertaining. And this video was enjoyable for the first couple of seconds until you realize that there are children in the background. Most likely this naked woman's children. I don't want to tell anyone how to raise their kids, but this has got to be on the "don't do this" list.

Predators International Trailer

"Predators" should be stalking your local cineplex pretty soon. I've seen a couple of trailers for it, but this international one is by far the best one of the bunch. I'm really liking the cast, even Adrian Brody looks tough as nails in this, specially when they drop him from low orbit straight into the jungle. That's some effective visuals right there. Let's hope Robert Rodriguez knocks this one out of the park and it doesn't end up looking like one of his "Spy Kids" movies.

Oh, and Danny Trejo is in this one, so that automatically guarantees our ticket purchases. That is one bad ass mutha . . .

Mortal Kombat Gets Hard R Test

This is an interesting video. I've seen it described as "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth Trailer" on the Youtube, but that's not really what it is. What you're looking at right now is an actual test of what an R-rated Mortal Kombat movie could look like. The director, who from what I understand previously directed the "Fame" remake, shot this to see if there would be any interest in the studio-system for something like this. I really hope so. The action seen here is pretty amazing. Not Ong-Bak amazing, but definitely better than previous Mortal Kombat movies.

Check it out so it can get a ton of hits on the internet. The more this little video gets around, the more likely it is that we will see a Se7en'ish looking Mortal Kombat movie in the near future.

Red Band Cop Out Trailer

I've seen a couple of "Cop Out" trailers out there, but this one is by far the funniest. Most likely due to all the cussing and dick jokes. Which I'm all for. I might be in the early nascent stages of my 30's, but I'm still a pubescent teen at heart. "Cop Out" stars Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan and is directed by Kevin Smith. He didn't write this one, which is why I think most of the marketing is downplaying his actual involvement in the movie. No matter who wrote this movie, I'm sure he can coax a good performance out of an actor. I've never seen something Smith hasn't written, so I'm actually curious to see if he's also grown as a director. "Cop Out" hits theaters at the end of this month.

The Last Airbender Super Bowl Ad

"The Last Airbender" is coming out this year, courtesy of M. Night Shyamalan. He wrote, directed and produced this (and I'm sure he'll find a way to cast himself in a small role in it as well, that's just how he rolls. Kinda like here @ BAFW, where our parenthesized comments always run too long). It's an adaptation of a cartoon I've never seen or paid much attention to, but it can't be any worse than his last filmed offering: "The Happening". While I haven't seen that movie, I never hear anything good from anyone that has.

This ad will air during the next Super Bowl, which, I think is happening this weekend? I don't know. I don't follow the foosball. I might record the game and just watch the commercials, but it's doubtful.

Tekken Trailer

This is the first I've heard of a movie adaptation of the popular videogame franchise "Tekken". But, here it is, apparently for the most part ready for release as indicated by the trailer above. Will it be good? Who knows. Most videogame movies are stinkers that should never have been produced. But, the fight scenes seem solid in this one, albeit happening in a rather repetitive locale. I don't hold high hopes for this, but it might be a solid rental in the near future. Fuck, it can't be any worse than the Jean-Claude Van Damme starring "Street Fighter" movie from the 90's. Check out the trailer and decide for yourselves.

Newest and Oldest The Crazies Trailer(s)

I've seen a couple of trailers for "The Crazies" remake. This third one that's embedded into this post seems to be the most effective, while not giving away too much of the movie. The movie is a remake of the exactly titled: "The Crazies", by George A. Romero. Breck Eisner is directing this iteration of the movie and that's Timothy Olyphant in the lead role. The movie is coming out this year, so look out for it. For comparison purposes, I've also included (below) the original's trailer from 1973. See which one you like better.

Panic Attack!

It's very likely that you've never heard of Fede Alvarez until now that I have mentioned his name. Alvarez, an Argentinian film-maker derived from clues featured in this short movie, has made a kick-ass little moving picture for an amazingly slim budget. About $300. American. So, it shouldn't be a surprise that his short: "Panic Attack" (or "Attaque de Panico" for our Spanish reader[s]) has already landed him a $30 million movie deal. Good for him. I just want more of this visuals on either the proverbial big screen, or I could settle for BAFW HQ's big screen. Either way, BAFW wants more Fede Alvarez. Check out the movie. You won't be dissapointed.

Hit Girl Gets Red Band Kick Ass Trailer

Come April 2010, everyone's going to be talking about "Kick Ass". Being currently touted as the most irresponsibly violent movie in recent history, it puts children (or young adolescents) into extremely violent situations with some truly entertaining results. I'm going to watch this. Specially now, since I saw the 11 year old character from the movie, "Hit Girl", wailing on some mafia dudes with a visceral finesse usually found in much older assassins. Check out the red band trailer (I know, she says "fucking with you") for more severed limbs and bullet holes than you can shake a stick at.

Iron Man 2 Trailer

Ummm . . . Holy shit. Can it be possible to make a better "Iron Man" movie? From the looks of the trailer above it's looking like a damn good possibility. Looks like everyone is back for some more iron-clad goodness (except for the guy replaced by Don Cheadle) and the new villian, Whiplash, played by Mickey Rourke comes off appropriately menacing and badass. Lots of cool moments in this trailer. Can't wait for 2010.

Edit: Oh, and I totally forgot to mention the jaw-dropping "War Machine" sequence in this trailer and the slight glimpse at Scarlett Johansson dressed up as Russian covert operative and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent "Black Widow". How could I forget.

Kick Ass new Kick-Ass Clip

"Kick-Ass" has had some great buzz thanks to the hype the source material had when it came out via comic book form. But, it's had a bit of a bumpy ride towards getting made, so much so that the film itself didn't have a distribution deal until just a few months ago when people started to see the finished product. Even with Nicolas Cage involved (I find myself saying this often now) I want to see this movie. Sadly, while this clip does give us a rather dangerous but almost sweet father-daughter moment, it doesn't have any McLovin in it. Yes, that kid from "Superbad" and "Role Models" is in this movie as well, and he plays a super-hero. Check out the clip, and get ready for some ass kicking come next year when the film is due to be released.

Robin Hood Trailer

I've seen many a Robin Hood movie. Now, I guess I have to see another one. Ridley Scott directs this one and Russell Crowe has been cast as the anti-hero in question. It's a little reminiscent of their previous period piece collaboration, "Gladiator". Is that a bad thing? Not to me. I loved that movie. Here's hoping that "Robin Hood" comes out truly badass and hits its target in 2010. Look out for this movie. In the meantime, check out the trailer.

Daybreakers Trailer

The Spierig Brothers, directors of the rather fun but ultimately uneven Australian zombie flick "Undead", are back, this time taking on vampires in their latest film titled "Daybreakers". From the looks of this trailer, it would appear that they got some quality actors this time around for their futuristic look at a world overrun by bloodsuckers. Check out the trailer. The movie should be coming out soon. Not exactly sure when it comes out. I've been out of the loop lately when it comes to movie premier dates. But, I'm sure you can do a Google search or something. Sheesh, do I have to do everything for you?

Blur Trailer

I enjoy a good racing game here and there. Whether it's a simulation style racer like "Forza", or an arcade battle racing game like the one above, "Blur" seems like tons of fun. Not only that, but they got 50 real world licensed cars that you can damage to your heart's content. Check out the trailer. "Blur" should be hitting the streets in 2010. Look for it. 'Til then, I'll be playing "Burnout: Paradise".

Borderlands gets Zombies

"Borderlands" is a great game I haven't been able to get my hands on as of yet. But I will. It's like they grabbed an RPG and fused it with a FPS and added a few thousand guns for you to play with. And now, thanks to the developer, 2K Games, there's now some new downloadable content (DLC) available to buy to further your gaming experience. But, the frosting on the extra gameplay cake is . . . zombies! Check out the video. "The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" is out now, so whip out the credit cards and get it for either XBOX 360 or PS3.

Date Night Trailer

I had no idea that this movie was coming out until today. Good thing that it's not released until next April. "Date Night" stars Steve Carrell and Tina Fey as a married couple that wants to spice up their marriage by pretending to be someone else to take their dinner reservation . . . with dire, but at the same time, hilarious circumstances. Lots of cameos in this one as well. I spotted Common, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco and Mila Kunis. This movie looks like something my wife would totally be into, and that's good for me, because now I don't have to convince her to go see this. Check out the trailer. It's funny.

The Olivia Munn Magazine?

Olivia Munn, smoking-hot co-host of "Attack of the Show", has her own magazine now? Or maybe it's a special one time thing she's doing for fans. Either way, it seems like something that should have been done a long time ago. While I will not end up purchasing the mag (not that big of a magazine reader) there's no reason for anyone else not to buy this. Especially AOTS fans. She's doing it mainly for them, and from the looks of this preview video, she knows what her fans want. Check it out, and then look out for "Hey Olivia" in stands soon.
