BAFW HQ Upgrades

There have been a couple of additions to the BAFW HQ as of late that I have been remiss in letting you fine readers about. I've just been too busy messing around with them. All of this is thanks to a recent influx in cash money (all legal, none from advertising . . . bums) to the ol' bank account. Let's get to the first one, that was a purchase born from necessity.

XBOX 360 Elite

My old, regular XBOX 360 got the RROD, again, and I had to send it off to Microsoft for repair. Since it's our main DVD machine in the living room, I kept arguing with my wife about purchasing an upgrade. Finally, after I told her how much I was making as bonus for the month of June, she relented, and agreed to let me purchase this dream machine. Right out of the box it's showing it's unmatched superiority. Crisp and clean 1080P via HDMI into my 42" LCD HD set is a thing of beauty. The 120 GB of hard drive space means I won't be running out of space for a long time. I was down to 2 GB's of space in my old XBOX 360. It's also a sleek black, which goes a little better with our black LCD set. The only downside . . . all of my saves for all of my games are in the old hard drive. I'm sure there's a way to transfer all of that from one machine to the other, but I'm lazy, so I'll most likely have to play through all of my games again. Achievements are still there though, so my 20,000+ points didn't disappear with my saved games.

LoveSac MovieSac

Don't call this bad boy a bean bag. There are no beans in this thing, just 65 lbs of shredded Durafoam, which molds and contorts to your body as you sit in it, creating one of the most comfortable pieces of furniture you will ever sit on. I love it. This is also one of the things I had been begging my wife for a couple of years to get. Since we got our IRS economic stimulus check in the mail last week, and being patriotic Americans that want to help out the economy, we headed out to the nearest LoveSac retailer and picked this up. Now my wife loves it, and it's hard for me to get some quality time with the MovieSac. It sits two people. I originally wanted to get the largest LoveSac available (appropriately named "The Big One" and sits 4 adults comfortably), but logistically speaking, it wouldn't have fit in the BAFW HQ anyway. This one is the third largest they offer, and it's barely fitting as is. Once we move to a larger domicile/HQ, we're definitely buying more, and possibly even getting some of the Sactionals they offer. Head on out to LoveSac.com for more of their products. I fully endorse them. BAFW-tested.

Text'd Miscommunication

I've been having a problem with a referral bonus I should have gotten last month for getting my wife a job at the bank. It's really hard to find help sometimes when you work for an organization this large. If you don't know the right people, it can be hell. I happen to know one of those right people, a unit manager in the Glendale call center, so I turned to him for help. Once securing that help, I text messaged my wife this message.
Me: Hugo is going to help us with that referral bonus.
I got this message back from her.
Wife: Best thing I've heard all day. Unlimited meat coming your way. I'll explain later.
At this point, I'm thinking cool, she's happy that we're getting help with our problem, and somehow she's scored us an unlimited source of meat. Hot damn it's a good day. I reply with this message.
Me: I hope that the meat is cooked at some point.
Then, I get this message from her.
Wife: I'm confused, I don't think you got what I was saying.
And indeed, I did not know what she was talking about. But that message cemented the fact that we were not actually going to get all the free meat we could handle. So I sadly replied with the text message below.
Me: Awww . . . does this mean we don't get free meat?
She didn't reply to that one because a couple of hours later, we were once again together after finishing our respective shifts. What she was talking about was a scenario that someone in her training class had mention involving Brazilian BBQ (I want me some of that now) and unlimited meat. She thought it was funny because her mind is in the gutter. Normally, I would have gotten it too if I weren't so preoccupied with getting my missing money.

A Breather

So, work has got me pretty ragged lately. I just came off a 6 week work binge that has left me feeling like taking an early retirement. I'm already looking at convalescent homes where I can spend my golden years. I just need to find one where they can puree my food, because chewing's for suckers. But, that's pretty much why posting is sparse these days. Sure, I try to keep it semi-regular, but some days I'm just too tired or trying to catch up on lost sleep in the morning. But, today, finally, I have a day off, and tomorrow I'm not scheduled either. I just wish there were more interesting things to post about. Everything is "Lindsay Lohan arrested" stories or "Britney Spears meltdowns" this and that. It's played out. Unless one of them actually kills someone, I'm not posting about them.

In work related news, despite having the worst work schedule known to man, I am excelling. I'm currently holding the 4th spot as far as our stats go in the whole customer service center. In previous positions that I've held, being number 4 might not have been such a big deal. With Earthlink, there were probably 45 employees in the department, and when I was working at Panda Software (not Express, I did not work in a Chinese fast food restaurant . . . yet), it was like 10 technical support agents (that was for the entire United States!), but now that I work for one of the biggest companies in the world, being number 4 is a pretty big deal. There are close to 150 associates in my center, and I've been consistently in the top ten. Which is padding my paycheck with bonuses.

And now that my wife is undergoing the training, I'm just waiting for her to hit the 6 month mark so I can get my $500 bonus. I'm such a mercenary sometimes. That's just the kind of world we live in though. Money money money. That's all that is important. I'm getting close to my 6 month of employment, which ends my commitment to Customer Service, so I'm also looking to move up in the company. I'll probably be meeting with someone to coordinate my career advancement within the next week. Damn, that sounds so fucking adult. Don't worry, I won't stop posting. I have noticed that traffic has increased this month exponentially. It's close to 24,000 page views just this month. What the hell are you people looking for? I don't even post the "Search-mania" entries which were pretty much designed to attract hits like flies to shit. I don't get it, but whatever. I'm not turning away free traffic.

So, that's what's going on. I might have a review of "Afro Samurai" today or tomorrow . . . if I'm not too lazy to finish the DVD I bought like 2 weeks ago. 'Til then, I'm going back to sleep. It's almost 8 AM, and I need a couple of hours of shut-eye before I can contemplate on wether I'm going to the gym or if I'm just going to toss money out the window on a membership I never use.

Training Post (With Added Bonus)

So, my training has commenced with the new company I am now working for, and it's going pretty great actually. I learned today, that since the majority of my shift is after 5:00 PM, I automatically get a 10% raise right off the bat. So, while I was a little on the worried side that I would be making a little less than when I was with Panda Software, it ends up being that now I make more. Score. And the training so far isn't even all that challenging. I'm sure that as time progresses (6 whole weeks worth of time) things will start getting a little more complicated. But right now, I'm enjoying easy-street.

A little interesting sidenote. We were doing an exercise to help us learn each other's names. We would start at the beginning, say the person's name and then what they would have brought to a picnic that starts with the first letter of their names. For example, "My name is Jaime and I'll be bringing Jack Daniel's to the picnic". So, as we go around the room, we have to say everyone's name and what they said they would bring to this hypothetical picnic. The things they came up with were bizarre to say the least. I won't go through the entire list, but there was a ton of booze, a monkey, and some guy's nuts. I kid you not. This group of people is strange and I like that.

All in all, a pretty good day. I learned I won't really be able to go online . . . at all . . . while I'm working. Which is fine. I've been abusing this at every other job I had. I don't think I've ever told you about the perverted boss that had me downloading pornography for him on my computer so his wife, who also worked in the office, wouldn't find out. So, yeah, as far as internet goes, I've had it pretty unrestricted. I think this has really affected my work ethic and I'm glad this place is regimenting me so that I can treat this more as a career path rather than some place I go for 8 hours and get paid for it. I didn't expect this to ever happen, this change in me, but I'm guessing it's for the better. And now that I have the new MacBook at home, blogging won't be a problem. I have all morning long to blog.

Oh, and the bonus I was talking about . . . . 1000 post!! I didn't think this would ever happen. Most people post once a day. It's taking me under two years to reach this milestone. And, my Sitemeter tells me that I've accumulated 100,000+ unique visitors with close to 150,000+ page views. Thank you everyone for coming back after you didn't find the pictures of (insert celebrity name here) doing (insert lewd or lascivious act here) with a (insert inprobable sexual aide). I really appreciate it.

American Idol - Who's the New Katharine McPhee?

With the new season of American Idol looming over the horizon, I can't help but wonder . . . who's going to be this year's Katharine McPhee? Who will America fall in perverted lust with? Who will people be searching for on the internet in futile attempts at nipple slips, upskirts, and pictures of the contestants feet. I don't know the answer to this, but I do know that my advertising revenue jumps 1000% (amount not actually a correct calculation) during the final days of the competition. Why? I don't know. But I'm sure as hell looking forward to it. Whoever it is, I hope to make a quick buck off of you. Why? Because I love money . . . especially money that I don't really have to work for. So, search away America, and click away when you land here, on my humble blog. Sure, you won't find those pictures of a contestant golden showering a random person, but you might find something else that might make you laugh.
