BAFW TV Guide - New Comedies Fall 2009

I've been missing for some time from this page. I'd like to say I was doing interesting things in exotic locales . . . but it's mostly been watching the boob-tube. And by that, I mean television, not a freaky-deaky porn site that is similar to YouTube in it's ease of use. But, we're straying from the subject at hand.

Community
"Community" is a new comedy on NBC that plays during their Thursday night block of comedy. It's one of the best half hours of hilarity out right now if you wanted my personal opinion (which I'm guessing is why you're actually taking the time to read this). "Community" stars the great Joel McHale who basic cable TV viewers will know from E's "The Soup". He's part of an ensemble cast that includes Chevy Chase, who is also hilarious in this show. Pretty much the whole cast brings a little something different to the show, set in a fictional community college, and so far, it's always been consistently great. If you haven't jumped on board yet, please do. You're missing out.

Modern Family
The next new comedy of this fall season that I have been thoroughly enjoying is ABC's "Modern Family". This show plays on Wednesday nights (tonight if you're reading this the day that I posted it) and it's also something you can't afford to miss. Otherwise, you'd be comedy bankrupt. There's a lot of funny people in this show, notably the great Ed O'Neill, who you will remember from "Married with Children". Here, he's paired up with a Colombian actress Sofia Vergara (who many male individuals of Hispanic descent will remember from helping them get through puberty). They make up 1/3 of the family portrayed in "Modern Family". The other couples include a gay couple that just adopted a Chinese baby and a more traditional family with a father that tries too hard to be his kids' friends. The scene in the first episode where he's detailing his knowledge of text abbreviations was "LOL". Even though my description isn't doing the show much justice, trust me when I tell you that you need to DVR or TiVo this show ASAP.

BAFW TV Guide will return within the next couple of days where I will talk about new dramatic shows I've been checking out for the first time and enjoying. It might not even take 14 days to come up with a new post. Keep your eyes peeled . . . figuratively speaking. You need those puppies for TV viewing.

Day One Trailer

I do enjoy a post-apocalyptic yarn from time to time. That's why, this trailer for NBC's "Day One" is looking mighty freaking cool to me. The video is not that great when it comes to quality, but the ideas and concept shine through anyway. What at first looks like a re-hashed meteor strike is then substituted with something more sinister. Check your local listings for this one. It's probably not going to start with the regular fall season of 2009, so look out for it mid-season 2010. It's going to feel like a long wait, but to me, it looks like it might just be worth it.

Update: So, the first video was killed by NBC . . . let's see how long this one lasts.

Heroes Webisode

If you're anything like me, you're anxiously awaiting the return of "Heroes". Whet your thirst for superhero action with this webisode courtesy of NBC. I guess this is kind of what their spin-off series would have looked like. Production on the webisode is not as good as on the actual show, but it's only 3 minutes or so, and who knows, some of these characters might end up on the TV series. Check NBC.com for more.

Hellboy is Everywhere

Here he is doing a PSA for kitties. Hellboy loves kitties.

Here he is with the American Gladiators.

And here he is, hanging out with Chuck from the show . . . "Chuck". It's nice to see some support for "Hellboy II: The Golden Army". I'm a big fan of the first "Hellboy" movie, and I'm totally psyched to see Guillermo Del Toro's 2nd take on the character. Movie comes out July 11th. Mark your calendars.

Heroes Promo

"Heroes", one of my favorite shows of all time, is coming back this fall to NBC. Hopefully, instead of a mini-season, we'll get the full shebang this time around. I swear, if the writers or the actors strike again this year, I will flip my shit. Anyway, some of the heroes might be villains? I can't fucking wait.

Opening Weekend Movies - 10/26/2007

Dan in Real Life - All I know about this movie is that it has Steve Carell, who I am a big fan of. Ever since "The Daily Show", and then "The 40 Year Old Virgin" to his current stint on NBC's American adaptation of "The Office". And that is where my knowledge of this movie ends. It's sure to make a ton of money. Mainly because anything Carell touches lately turns into money. Which, might prove a problem when ever he tries to feed himself. Money, while great, does not usually taste all that good. If you don't believe, try it for yourself. Wether it's a $1 or $100 bill . . . chances are you're not going to enjoy it.

Saw IV - Really America . . . Another "Saw" movie. You know that it's all your fault that these movies keep coming out year after year. Will it ever end? These installments are churned out on the cheap by the movie studio, and then they make a gagillion dollars, and it just ensures that the never ending cycle of filmic abuse continues. Break free and reclaim your life. These movies are never going to be good. Don't hold on to the delusion that maybe this time it won't bitch slap you with it's celluloid dick all over your face and then call you a fatty. Because it will. It will never be different.

Pre-"Earl" Jamie Pressley Modeling Pictures

I used to like Jamie Pressly more than now. Maybe it's because she's become a sort of caricature of what she is, with that southern accent set to overdrive on that show I never watch on NBC . . . partly because I believe it to be insulting to my intelligence, but also because there's really no more space on my DVR to record more bad television. But, why is any of this important. All you are interested are in these early modeling pictures that Jamie Pressly did for some magazine called "Ultra", way back when she was not pulling in the big NBC bucks. Everyone has to start somewhere I guess. I'd say these pictures are testament to a pretty good start. I specially like the ones with the American flag-inspired bathing suit. So patriotic. Makes me feel proud to be going through the naturalization process.

Check out what Jamie Pressly did after these pictures on her IMDB page. Also, more nudie pictures can be found over at WWTDD, complete with way better witty commentary.

Kristen Bell Joins "Heroes" Cast

Kristen Bell, formerly of the now defunct UPN/CW television show "Veronica Mars", will be joining the cast of NBC's "Heroes" this fall, and will be in at least 13 episodes. She will have a superpower, and will compete with the barely legal Hayden Panettiere as far as who's hotter in the show. That won't be a storyline in the show, just a competition that happens in my head. The events in this competition? Well, here's a little list that I'm currently working on:

-Whipped Cream Bikini application
-Running down a sandy beach in an ill-put-together bikini
-Cherry stem-tying with tongue
-Nude jumping jacks
-Jello/Mud/oil wrestling

Sure, this will only happen in my head, but with the right amount of imagination, you can also have a spank-fest of ginormous proportions. One more picture of Kristen Bell, in a bikini, for no apparent reason.

Hayden Panettiere Bikini Romp

I'm a fan of the show "Heroes" on NBC. It was pretty much my favorite show that debuted in 2006. Which is why I post pictures of Hayden Panettiere in a bikini now. Not because I'm into 17 year olds in bikinis. No way. I'm just a devoted fan of quality NBC television programming. It's "appointment television". Right? Or is this "Comedy Night Done Right"? I don't even know. These pictures are melting my brain. And they're making me feel kind of dirty. Damn you people for making me put these pictures up. Yeah, it's all your fault. I take no responsibility for this. I've seen your search patterns. I know what you want. I'm just catering to your perverted needs. At least that's what I'm telling the jury.

OMG . . . she's running . . . Queue up the "Baywatch" theme music.

Hayden Panettiere Does More Stuff

Hayden Panettiere, the indestructible cheerleader from NBC's hit show "Heroes", likes to party and have fun just like any other young Hollywood girl . . . but, I think she might be having a little too much fun. Licking butts on statues and having her friends spank her ass for money is not something I did when I was under the age of 18. Yes, she's not even legal yet. So, put that penis away pervert.

Well, at least she's not on the crack-cocaine . . . yet.

Hayden Panettiere Affectionate with TV Dad

I'm a big fan of NBC's show "Heroes". I'm also a big fan of Hayden Panettiere's character on the show, the indestructible cheerleader. Which is why, seeing these pictures of the filming of season 2 of the show, are kind of making me feel a little conflicted. On the one hand, the show does need a little more steamy scenes. Superhero action is great, but if that action happened between the bedsheets, you'd triple your viewership. But, the producers of the show might have taken that idea a little too far. From the looks of these pictures, it looks like Hayden's character "Claire" is making out with her TV dad. Sure, it's not her actual father on the show, he just raised her from the time she was a baby, but it's still wrong. Kind of like Woody Allen fucking his adopted daughter wrong.

And, I'm not sure why I didn't notice this earlier. Either the actor that plays her TV dad is a giant, or Hayden Panettiere is a borderline midget. Anyway, the kiss in question is below.

I can't wait for this show to come back next fall season. Hopefully, minus the hot daughter on adopted father action.

Easter's Not What it Used to Be

Shocking footage from the Conan O'Brian show, featuring BJ Novak of NBC's "The Office". Cadbury is trying to scam your ass. Their eggs are now, not just barely, but clearly, noticeably smaller, which means you're paying for less cream-filled goodness . . . and that folks, is just bad economics. Watch this and get blown away by the truth.
