BAFW on Vacation (Again?)

Just how many fucking vacations do I need? Not as many as I'm getting. This is just a quick trip down to San Diego to see a relatively unknown band. I think they're getting to be known by the mainstream and we'd like to have a chance to see them in concert before they get too big. What? Radiohead is already a huge, multi-national and successful band, instantly recognized by their wondrous musical achivements?

I guess it's not a small band after all. So yeah, we got the worst seats imaginable for the concert. Seats that are in an entirely different city. But it just creates an excuse to get out of town for three days and two nights. Away from work and bullshit. I don't have anything scheduled to post for the next couple of days, but the guys over at Analog Medium (also accessible through the links menu in the sidebar) might be posting up a review of mine within the next couple of days. Check them out, they don't get nearly enough vacations.

Prince is a Creep

Prince, or as I like to call him, the artist formerly known as the artist formerly known as Prince, covered Radiohead's "Creep" at the Coachella festival this year. Then, after he heard that the cover was up on YouTube and other video sharing websites, he went ahead and had his lawyers block the video. Even though it was not his to block to begin with. Even Radiohead, who were curious as to what the cover sounded like, were denied access to the performance, even though they are the rightful owners of the song. Below is an excerpt from a legitimate news blog about the whole ordeal

After word spread that Prince covered Radiohead's "Creep" at Coachella, the tens of thousands who couldn't be there ran to YouTube for a peek. Everyone was quickly denied - even Radiohead. In a recent interview, Thom Yorke said he heard about Prince's performance from a text message and thought it was "hilarious." Yorke laughed when his bandmate, guitarist Ed O'Brien, said the blocking had prevented him from seeing Prince's version of their song. "Really? He's blocked it?" asked Yorke, who figured it was their song to block or not. "Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment." Yorke added: "Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our song."

In my opinion, Prince was just probably ashamed of the absolutely terrible job he did of butchering such an iconic song. What a fucking creep.

EDIT - Had to go find a new video of the song in question because the video was pulled from the original site. Prince, just give it a break pal. Go masturbate your guitar, or whatever it is Prince does.

Space Ghost - Knifin' Around

I had watched this episode of "Space Ghost Coast to Coast" a few years ago. I fell in love with it then, and today, I rediscovered it through my cable's On Demand service. Here it is, in all of it's YouTube'y glory. It features Bjork, Thom York and plenty of hilarious hijinks. This is one of the reasons why I will continue to watch Cartoon Network's Adult Swim . . . forever.

Musically Inclined Mondays - Plan B

Before I head out to work this afternoon (yes, I don't have to be in until 1 PM) I thought I'd post up the MP3 post, and since I was feeling a little on the hip hop'y side, I thought I'd post up these great Plan B tracks which feature The Rolling Stones and Radiohead. It is as good as it sounds, and I highly recommend you take up my bandwidth with the download. What else can I tell you about Plan B . . . um, fuck it. Get these tracks and make your own judgements.
